On the national scene, the SOU Women’s Softball team had a historic year. The NAIA National Title didn’t come easy.
Several weather delays kept the fans on the edge of their seats for over eight hours. Finally, the Raiders got the 8-3 in over perennial champions Oklahoma City.
Former Eagle Point Eagle Paige Leeper was clutch with a
Grand slam that made the difference. Naia pitcher of the year Gabby Sandoval who went 36-4 on the season, only gave
Up 7 hits and 1 earned run in the victory.
Postseason awards were plenty. Allie Stines and Gabby Sandoval both were 1st team All Americans. World Series MVP Laren Quirke was 2nd team. Head coach Jessica Pistole was NAIA Coach of the Year.
