It may be only the first week of ‘spring’ but the weather in Bend has been like July for the start of High School Baseball, and the Class 5A State Runnerup Bend Lava Bears opened the season Saturday with a split.
Bend, was blanked in the first game by The Dalles, 5-0, but claimed the second game 8-7.

Bend (1-1) finished the 2013 season 20-9, and losing to Sherwood in the Title game, 11-4 after making it to the Semis in 2012.
The Dalles (2-2) was ranked 5th and was upset by Corvallis in the 1st Round, 2-1 ending their season at 19-8.
Next up for Spring Break week, Bend will host 6A Jesuit in a twinbill Tuesday at Noon, and then entertain West Albany Friday at Noon.
The Lava Bears open IMC league play with a 3-game series April 14th & 16th hosting 2012 State Runnerup, and cross-town rival Summit. On Friday April 18th, The Storm hosts Bend.
