Dutch Bros Coffee’s Love Abounds Foundation and …

Dutch Bros Coffee’s Love Abounds Foundation and the Oregon Fútbol Academy, are partnering to present free workshops about youth sports. John O’Sullivan will lead two workshops; one for parents at 6 p.m. and a second for coaches at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6 at the Grants Pass Performing Arts Center.

This event is free and features John O’Sullivan, a sought-after presenter, coach and author of the international bestsellers “Changing the Game: The Parents Guide to Raising Happy, High Performing Athletes” and “Giving Youth Sports Back to our Kids.”

The Changing the Game Project’s mission is to ensure that youth sports in the community really serve our youth and are fun. The seminar will provide insight and resources to help parents and coaches make sports a healthy, positive and rewarding experience for their children and the whole family.

“I will discuss how to help your kids compete their best. How to develop the right mindset to succeed, deal with adversity and develop resilience,” said John O’Sullivan, Founder, Changing the Game Project. “Parents and coaches can work together to make youth sports a great experience for all involved.”

This conversation is important, as the assumption is that youth sports are a positive experience, yet 70 percent of children drop out of organized athletics by the age of 13. Youth sports has become an ultra-competitive adult-centered enterprise that has taken the “play” out of “play ball” for far too many kids. We can change that, this talk will cover topics such as how to keep your kids in sports and how to give your child a competitive edge and more.

The coaching workshop will focus on “Leadership Secrets of the World’s Best Coaches.” O’Sullivan consults with organizations such as US Youth Soccer, USA Football, US Lacrosse, and other sports organizations across the US, Canada and Europe. John speaks to parents and coaches around the world about the issues facing today’s children, and helps organizations create collaborative environments amongst parents and coaches that help their athletes perform to their potential.

“Love Abounds mission is centered around providing opportunities and smiles for the youth in our communities,” said Jen Wheatley, Love Abounds Foundation. “Advancing this conversation allows us to help deliver an amazing youth sports experience for our local athletes.”
