THE STORM BLOW OUT THE WINLESS COUGARS 55-3

The #6 ranked Summit Storm (4-1) dominated the winless (0-5) Mountain View Cougars in all aspects of the game en route to a 55-3 drubbing.

Jason Garcia (Sr, 5-9, 180), returning from injury, saw plenty of action in the first half, including a 4 yard run for Summit’s first score.

Mountain View managed 2 first downs on the opening drive, but gave up a sack to Noah Yunker (SR, 6-4, 215) that forced a punt.

Mountain View’s starting QB Mike Irwin (Jr, 6-1, 195) suffered a leg injury on the play, and did not return to the game. He was relieved by Noah Spear (Sr, 6-4, 175).

Summit added another first quarter score, as QB John Bledsoe (Jr, 6-3, 185) found his brother Stuart Bledsoe (Sr, 5-11, 170) for a 15 yard touchdown.

Summit’s next drive dashed what little hope remained for Mountain View, as Summit put together a 15 play drive that included a pair of 4th down conversions.

Tim Meagher (Sr, 6-2, 195) blocked Mountain View’s next punt attempt.

The 2nd half started with more scoring from Summit and turnovers on consecutive drives by Mountain view. Jacob Thompson (Sr, 5-11, 200) scored for the 2nd time, punching the ball in from 2 yards out.

Late in the 4th quarter, Mountain View was able to prevent the shutout, as Zach Emerson (Sr, 6-2, 200) hit a 43-yard field goal for the final score of the game.

Next week, Summit will host #3 ranked Redmond (4-1) in a crucial conference battle, broadcast live by Play Action Sports Media. Mountain View will travel to take on the 2014 Class 4A Champion Gladstone Gladiators.

Redmond handed previously top-ranked Bend it’s first loss of the season beating the Lava Bears, 40-7. Panter RB Derek Brown rushed for 340 yards, and 4 TD’s in the win. Bend RB Cole Rixe rushed for 141 yards in the loss.

The Lava Bears host Ridgeview (3-2) this week. The Ravens scored a 41-27 win at Pendleton.
