CATS HOPING TO SCRATCH OUT ANOTHER TITLE

If you had to make out your lineup card as Manager of ‘Oregon’s Best Prep Baseball Players’ of all-time, Scott Brosius would be at the top, or somewhere near the top of that card.

Brosius wasn’t a bonus baby, or a 1st, or 2nd, or even 3rd round MLB draft pick. The Rex Putnam (Portland) HS graduate was a 20th round selection in 1987 by the Oakland A’s who went on to play 11 seasons in the big leagues.

Now days, Brosius is busy filling out his daily lineup card as Manager/Head Coach of the Linfield Wildcats NCAA Division-3 baseball team who are the defending National Champions.

Linfield is currently ranked #1 in the D3 Poll with a 29-4 overall record, and enters the final weekend of regular season NWC (Northwest Conference) play with a 19-2 mark.

The Cats host Lewis & Clark this weekend to wind things up before the Regional playoffs begin May 14th.

Brosius doesn’t like to bring attention to himself much these days after winning 3 World Series Championships as a Yankee, and earning ‘MVP’ honors in the 1998 fall classic.

But, the former All-Star and Gold Glove third-baseman is bringing attention to his baseball program in McMinnville (Portland) after claiming the National Title in 2013, and being rated #1 in 2014 since the season began in mid-February.

Linfield is hoping to win its 4th National Championship in baseball as the Cats won the NAIA Titles in 1966 & 1971. The Football program has won 4 Titles, and the Softball team 2.

Nobody needs to tell Brosius and the Cats how to get to Appleton, Wisconsin as Linfield seems to have a date with destiny soon.
