COACH PADILLA RESIGNS FROM SUMMIT

Joe Padilla has stepped down as Summit High School’s football coach.

Padilla took over the football program at Summit in 2012 after the retirement of Jerry Hackenbruck.

Under coach Padilla the Storm went 35-19 and won its first State Championship in 2015.

The Storm’s football program, has bloomed under Padilla’s tutelage. Before he took over they were 5-5 overall in 2011, and went winless in 2009 and 2010.

Now they are one of the top programs in the OSAA 5A division.

It’s exciting and at the same time overwhelming,” Padilla said in an interview with the Bend Bulletin when he was first promoted to head coach. “I’ve been at Summit for five years and have seen the evolution of the program. It’s been interesting, and it’s something I think I can put a positive spin on.”

Looking back, he has succeeded.
