Corvallis came right after the IMC Champions on the first drive of the night with a long 12 play series capped off by a 1 yard rushing touchdown by QB Lance Petersen.

The Spartans would add another score off a 49 yard JD Laswell touchdown to jump out to a 14-0 lead early in the second quarter.

Mountain View, undaunted would get on the board with about 8 minutes left in the first half, as SR Austin Albin (6-4/200) made a scoring grab from 8 yards out to put the first Cougar score on the board.

The IMC Champs would add another score fairly quickly, with Sophomore QB Mike Irwin (6-0/190) ripping off two big runs—one of 42, and one of 8 yards that would land him in the end zone.

That score would tie it 14-14 at the half.

WR Hankins would add a 15 yard touchdown after the defense stopped the Cougars at the goal line, giving their offense the ball at the 17 and allowing Petersen to drive it 95 yards for pay dirt.

The very next drive would end in disaster for the Cougars as Irwin would throw a costly interception, one that would cost Mountain View six points in fact as CB Zach Humphries snatched it out of midair and took off for 88 yards to the end zone.

Early in the 4th, the Cougars began to show life as Sr. RB Cody Anthony (6-2/220) would cap off another long Mountain View scoring drive, taking it from midfield to the goal.

Mountain View finally strung two scores together on consecutive drives after an Albin TD reception, his second of the game, but it was too little too late  as WR JD Laswell would put things in the deep freeze, scoring from 11 yards out after an 80 yard back-breaking drive.

Corvallis advances to the OSAA Quarterfinals where they will head south to Eugene to meet Marist, who dismantled Joe Padilla’s Summit Storm 41-29 at Willamette High School in Eugene.

Coach Crum had a message for the outgoing seniors after the loss; “That we love them, that our staff loves them, that we apreciate what they have done and we are proud of them… they will always be Mountain View Cougars”
