COUGARS MAUL PANTHERS

The Mountain View Cougars beat the Redmond Panthers in a 6 inning blow out, 12-2 on Wednesday (5/7).

Earlier in the week, the Panthers were able to shut down the Cougars with a 9-5 come from behind victory, but could not get their offense started today against pitcher Derrek Ostrom, who only gave up 3 hits, 1  earned run, and recorded 9 strikeouts on the day for Mountain View.

Mountain View took the lead in 4th on a 2-run double by Colton Lovelace and then sealed the deal with a 5 run explosion in the 5th, highlighted by an RBI double by Brock Powell.

Then, a 2 run single by Carson Corrigan and then 2 runners being forced home on consecutive walks with the bases loaded to bring the score to 8-2.

The Cougars proceeded to put up another 4 runs in the 6th inning, which caused the game to end due to the OSAA “Mercy Rule”, 12-2.

Devin Haney lead the Cougars from the plate going 3-4 with three RBI’s. Eight other Mountain View player had one hit a piece.

This was the first league win for the Cougars who score their 6th win of the season, to go along with 13 losses. This win snaps a 4 game losing streak for Mountain View.

The two teams will meet again in the rubber match of this three game series in Redmond on Friday.
