Lady Rangers Make Swiss Cheese Out of Cheesemakers

A seven-run first inning secures the win for the Lady Rangers

 

ESTACADA, OR – Sophomore pitcher Emily Gant pitched a gem on Thursday. In 3 innings on the hill, Gant allowed no runs on only four hits, striking out two, and walking two in a 9-2 win against Tillamook on Thursday.

 

The scoring started early for The Lady Rangers (4-5), getting 7 out of 11 batters across home plate in the first inning. Tillamook (1-5) had no answer for Gant, as she faced 11 batters in the 3 innings she was on the mound.

The scoring didn’t stop for Estacada as senior catcher Hailey Clark doubled to start the third inning. Freshman third baseman Riley Canifax singled, but Clark was tagged out. Sophomore first baseman Izzy Hagel singled, and second baseman Tessa Riedel knocked Canifax and Hagel in with a line drive single to the wall, to make it 9-0 Rangers after 3.
