LEGION BASEBALL UPDATE
The Grants Pass Nuggets clinched no worse then 2nd place in ‘Area-4 League’ American Legion baseball action and will have the home field for the Super Regionals as the Nuggets claimed a road sweep in Roseburg.

The Nuggets beat Roseburg 7-2, and 9-8 (9) in extra innings in the nightcap.

Grants Pass trails Medford by 1-game with each team closing out the season with a twinbill Tuesday night. Grants Pass finishes at Eugene, while Medford wraps up league play at Klamath Falls.

Grants Pass pitcher Neil Bastendorff pitched a complete-game victory in game one of a doubleheader at Legion Field allowing just 2 runs on 7 hits, and fanning 4 without giving up a walk..

A 5-run seventh inning, coupled with two Doc Stewart’s errors in that inning led the way to the win.

The Nuggets won the nightcap 9-8 in 9-innings as Tyler Rund struck out 5 batters in the final 3 innings of relief. Jake Ireland pitched the first 5 scoreless innings. Roseburg scored 6-runs on just one hit in the 6th inning to make it a 1-run game.

But, in the 10th, Cade Kissel delivered an RBI Single leading Grants Pass to the season series sweep of Doc Stewarts.

Grants Pass, 13-and-5 in league, and 24-and-16 overall finishes the regular season in Eugene tomorrow night at 6pm facing the Challengers, and will host the Super Regional Playoffs Saturday night, and Sunday afternoon against the #3 seed from Area-2 (Portland).
