In an out of control matchup, the Beavers led 33-29 going into the locker room at halftime. Washington State standout center Brock Motum had only four points at the half, but went on to finish the game with 20 points, including going 3-5 behind the 3-point line.

For the Cougars, Mike Ladd led all scores with 23 points while shooting 91% (10-11 FG) from the field. Washington State won the rebound game 39-27, a matchup that was a decider it the game.

Oregon State was led by point guard Ahmad Starks with 17 points. Devon Collier and Roberto Nelson each scored 14 points in a game that was well within reach for the Beavers.

On a more pleasant and surprising note, Langston Morris-Walker had a career-high nine points, shooting 3-4 behind the arc.

One issue the Beavers, and Head Coach Craig Robinson need to address, is the overly aggressive play of freshman Olaf Schaftenaar.

While scoring three points, and going 1-6 behind the 3-point line, it appears as if once he makes one basket, usually the first one he takes, he starts shooting the majority of the times he receives the ball.

All in all, Oregon State needs to take a step back and analyze their play. If they don’t, they could finish out the season with only one win in Pac-12 play.

Oregon State will travel to California to take on the Cal Golden Bears (11-7, 3-3 Pac-12) Thursday at 7pm, while the Washington State Cougars plays host to Arizona State (16-4,5-2) in Pullman.
