OSAA 6A Softball Quarterfinals: Glencoe @ North Medford. The post season doesn’t get any better than this. The BlackTornado jumped out to a 2-0 lead that they held for most of the game. Glencoe battled back and scored to make it 2-1. North Medford then went up 3 to 1. Then came the top of the 7th inning. Glencoe had one last chance and they came through big time. They tied the game 3-3 sending it to extra innings. In the top of the 8th the Lady Crimson Tide made a push but couldn’t convert.
Now the Lady Black Tornado had a chance to close it out. With a pinch runner on first, “A-Rip” Ashley Ripplinger hit a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt in front of the plate and took off for 1st base. The Glencoe catcher fielded it and attempted the throw to first and hit Ripplinger in the back of the helmet and the ball bounced over the 1st baseman’s head and the pinch runner never broke stride and cleared the base path to slide at home safely to win the Quarterfinal.
Now that’s post season ball right there! The Lady Black Tornado now host Tualatin on Tuesday at 5PM on TablerockSports.net
