“Ospreys Season Ends with 4-0 Loss”

The Rogue Community College Ospreys season ended Wednesday Nov 1 in the first round of the Northwest Athletic Conference single elimination playoffs when they lost to Pierce College 4-0.

The Ospreys (7-4-2, 6-2-2 NWAC) were hosting and playing in their first ever playoff game against Pierce (9-8-3, 6-3-3) this Wednesday. In new territory the Ospreys battled hard but found themselves down early when Christian Guzman took an inbound pass and found a crease to put Pierce up 1-0 in the 13th minute. Later Austin Stafford would cross the ball over the box and find Tyler Wood for the header in 37th minute to put Pierce up 2-0 going into the half.

The second half play continued the trends of the first when in the 73rd minute Christian Guzman found Tyler Wood for the third Pierce goal and his second on the day. Mark Filimonov would find Austin Stafford in the 80th minute to put Pierce up 4-0 and close out the match. Pierce would get the 4-0 victory and advance to play Whatcom in the second round of the NWAC playoffs.

There were two yellow cards issued during the match: Jose Mendoza (RCC), Paul Powell (PC)

The loss ends a spectacular season by the Ospreys men as they set new heights for future programs to reach. Earning a player of the week nomination, rising in the ranks to fifth, and earning their first ever playoff berth this team helped the third-year program advance to the next level. The Ospreys enter the offseason with 14 potential returning players and new higher goals to achieve.
