“Ospreys Women Stay in Playoff Hunt, Win 1-0”

The Rogue Community College (RCC) Ospreys women’s soccer team was on the road Wednesday October 17th taking on Clackamas Community College (CCC).

The Ospreys have to win their final three games of the season to qualify for playoffs and started off on the right foot with a 1-0 win.

Every game is a playoff game for the Ospreys (5-7-1, 4-5-1 NWAC) at this point. Needing to win out to go to playoffs their first test came on the road against CCC (1-9-3, 1-8-1).

It did not start out well as it was all Clackamas in the first half as they totaled 13 shots against the Ospreys one. But keeper Megan Cowee was on fire protecting the next collecting the first four saves of her eight on the day in the first half. The teams would go into the half tied 0-0.

The Ospreys picked up their attack in the second half as they added four more shots to their total. In the 66th minute it was Hayle Mehl who would find the opportunity as she put it into the net unassisted to give the Ospreys the 1-0 lead.

Cowee would continue her strong defense and adding four saves for the total of eight in the second half to help the team secure a 1-0 result.

There was one yellow card issued during the match: Stephanie Roe (RCC – 19th)

The Ospreys are on the road again this coming Saturday October 20th when they take on Chemeketa Community College (2-12-1, 1-8-1) at Blanchet High School at 12:00pm. Their final game will take place Wednesday October 24th at home at U.S. Cellular Community Park Field 14 when they host Portland Community College (7-6-1, 6-4-0).

The Ospreys currently sit in 4th place in the South Region and can claim 3rd and a playoff spot by winning their final two games of the year.
