Strong running and consistent, physical play led the Sisters Outlaws to a 28-8 victory over the Crook County Cowboys.
Both teams entered the game with 2-0 records, with their sights set on continuing the season undefeated.
After holding the Outlaws to a 3 and out, the Cowboys converted a first down, but failed on a fake punt attempt.
That gave the Outlaws the ball on the Crook County 46 yard line with 8:46 left in the first quarter.
Shortly after a 30 yard run by RB Chance Halley (Sr. 5-11, 175 lbs.), Sisters capped off the drive with a 1 yard touchdown run, the first of 3, by Mitch Gibney (Sr. 5-11, 195 lbs.).

Crook County’s offense bogged down at that point, as they embarked on 3 consecutive drives that ended in 3 and outs. Sisters started the 2nd quarter with a 39 yard drive, highlighted by a 17 yard run by RB Logan Shutte (Sr. 5-10, 195) and finished with a 1 yard run by Gibney.
Down by 2 scores, the Cowboys desperately needed a stop, and they got one when DL Taylor Lockling (Sr. 6-0, 205) sacked QB Tanner Head (Jr. 5-11, 180 lbs) for a 10 yard loss.
Using an up-tempo, no-huddle flexbone offense mounted a long drive from their own 20, highlighted by a 40 yard Tanner Head scramble.

The Cowboys appeared to score a on a 9 yard touchdown pass to Braden Bezona (Jr. 5-11, 155), but the play was canceled by a 15 yard penalty. 4 plays later, the Cowboys turned the ball over on downs.
The 2nd half began with another long drive by the Cowboys, but with 8:11 to go in the third, the Outlaws took over at the 26 yard line and after a string of short runs, were able to score on a deep pass to TE Tyler Head (Jr. 6-1, 180), Tanner Head’s twin brother.
In the opening seconds of the 4th quarter, with Sisters in possession, Halley gave up a fumble while attempting to hurdle a defender.
After going 3 and out, Crook County put up a strong defensive stand, and blocked a punt in their opponent’s end zone. The ball was recovered by Darrien Langley (Jr. 6-2, 220 lbs) for the Cowboys’ lone score. Brogan Howard (Sr. 5-11 200) caught a 2 point conversion pass.

Sisters immediately answered with a 5 play touchdown drive, culminating in a 16 yard touchdown run by Gibney.
Crook County’s final meaningful drive was ended by an interception by Tyler Head with 4:52 remaining in the game. After that, both coaching staffs used the remainder of the game to get backups and underclassmen game experience.
Next week, the Outlaws travel to Sweet Home (1-2) to take on the Huskies to open Sky-Em League play, while the Cowboys go to Gladstone (1-2) to battle the defending State Champion Gladiators to kick off Tri-Valley play.
