RIDGEVIEW UPSETS #3 SUMMIT TO HAND STORM ONLY 2ND LOSS

The Ridgeview Ravens may be the hard-luck team of the year in Class 5A play, and in the IMC-Intermountain Conference.

Ridgeview has been in most games, and for one reason, or another, has found themselves 1-7/4-14 at the mid-way point of League play gasping for life to capture the third and final IMC playoff spot.

Wednesday, the young Ravens, with only 2 seniors, came out swinging and were determined to make a name for themselves in taking down #3 Summit, handing the Storm their only 2nd loss of the season, 6-4.

Ridgeview took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning, only to have Summit steal a 2-1 lead in the 5th.

But, Ridgeview erupted for 4 runs on 5 hits in the 6th inning as Jr. George Mendazona led off with a double.

That was just the beginning as the Ravens mashed back-to-back-back doubles by Mendazona, Colin Runge, and Garret Albrecht.

Only to be followed by JT Edmondson’s run-scoring triple to give Ridgeview a 4-2 lead.

James Skinnered followed with a RBI single and Ridgeview owned a 5-2 lead.

Then, Mendazona belted his first Home Run of the year in the 7th with one out to put the Ravens on top, 6-2.

The Storm huffed and puffed in the bottom of the 7th and brought across 2-runs but fell short. Thanks to CF Garrett Dewolf’s diving catch off a shot by Jason Garcia.

Ridgeview notched its first win over Summit in the 4-game season series as Summit won the first two matchups, 5-3 and 7-5.

With the loss, Summit drops out of a first-place tie in the IMC with Bend. The Storm are 7-2 and 15-2 overall, while Ridgeview improes to 2-7/5-14.

Colin Runge was 3 for 4 on the day for the Ravens with 2 doubles, and a triple.
