Roseburg High School athletics will start a new initiative to instill core values in student-athletes.

“Our message to student athletes this year will be, ‘Getting better every day, our actions show we are one through our loyalty, integrity and relentless effort,'” RHS Athletic Director Russ Bolin said in a press release.

Coaches will spend a few minutes a day with their athletes to discuss the principles behind these core values and how they can be integrated into their daily lives.

“Our coaches have long believed that sports offer the best classroom to teach the kids the skills needed to be successful in life, such as leadership, teamwork and how to handle adversity,” Bolin said. “We’ll be taking this concept a step further in our efforts to have direct and meaningful conversations with kids about the importance of these core values.”
