STORM ROLL OVER THE REBELS 59-14

After winning the I-M-C title, the Summit Storm (9-1) have now advanced to the OSAA U.S. Bank/Les Schwab Tires Quarterfinals for the first time in school history with a convincing win at home over South Albany, 59-14.

The game started on the wrong foot for the Storm, when WR Will Vermilyae (Sr. 6’3″ 195) returned the opening kick off 68 yards.

A few plays later, the RB Chase Baum (Soph. 6’1″ 175) punched in his first of 2 TD’s on the night from a few yards out, giving the Rebels a 7-o lead after the extra point.

But the following kick off was returned 49 yards for the Storm by RB Jason Garcia (Sr. 5’9″ 180), then on the first play from scrimage, WR Sean Kent (Sr. 5’7″ 162) took fly-sweep end around run 51 yards to the house to tie the game 7-7.

The Storm defense, coached former NFL Pro Neil Elshire, found their footing forcing a series of short possessions by the Rebels, while the Storm just kept on scoring.

After a 21 yard TD reception by WR Nick Rasmussen (Sr. 6’2″ 190) The Storm did not slow down ripping off long TD runs by Kent, Garcia, and two by RB Dawson Ruhl (JR 5’10” 160).

In the 3rd quarter, starting QB John Beldsoe came up limping after a hit and was replace by back up Troy Viola, who kept the pressure on the Rebels, throwing a 17 yard TD to RB Brian Rill (Sr. 5’10” 160) to cap the night for the offense, boosting the Storm’s lead to 56-14.

The Storm ended the night with an impressive 52 yard feild goal by K Cadien Wadsworth, giving Summit a 59-14 win.

The Storm meet IMC rival Remond, who defeated Lebanon 41-21, on the Panthers home field as Redmond is the #3 seed and Summit #6 in the bracket.
