The Medford Rogues (6-6) lost to the Klamath Falls …

The Medford Rogues (6-6) lost to the Klamath Falls Gems (6-7) 6-3 on Sunday night.

Catcher Cole Elvis (UC-Berkeley, 2019) walked to lead off the second inning.

Second baseman Riley Kasper (Saddleback College) hit a soft line drive to right field. Tim Frith dove for it and came up empty, the ball bounced by him, and Kasper strolled into second with a double.

First baseman Joe Bath (Lewis-Clark State) grounded to second base to score Elvis and move Kasper to third.

Shortstop Riley Way (Lewis-Clark State) hit a fly ball to right field to score Kasper.

Klamath Falls quickly answered back in the top of the third when back-to-back walks put two on for Gems lead-off hitter Kyle Yamada, who doubled to left-center field to tie the game 2-2.

The Rogues re-took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when right fielder Kody Garvin (Lewis-Clark State) hit a solo home run to right field.

But the Gems would not let the Rogues enjoy the lead for long. In the top of the sixth, shortstop Brice Foster lead off with a single, and Medford native Travis Danielson was hit by a pitch. Right fielder Tim Frith laid down a sacrifice bunt, but the throw from Elvis down to first went wide, allowing Foster to score.

Bath picked up the ball in right field and fired home trying to get Foster, but that throw sailed wide, allowing Danielson to score.

The Rogues brought the tying run to plate in the ninth, but failed to score.

Cole Carder (Linn-Benton College) made his return to the Medford Rogues, he went 2-3 with two singles.

Cole Elvis finished the game 3-4 with three singles, a walk, and a run scored.

Starting pitcher Jose Chavez (Linn-Benton College) scattered two hits and two earned runs over five innings. He also struck out four.

Bobby Voortmeyer (Columbia Basin) struck out three over 3.1 innings in relief.

The announced attendance for Country Night was 2,083.
