World bests highlight day one of USA Indoor Championships
PORTLAND β A very sparse crowd showed up at the Convention Center to kick off the USATF Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday afternoon. People trickled in throughout the afternoon, but by the time the national anthem was played at 3:45 p.m., the stands were still basically empty. The facility looks great once you get into the seating area; the track is a gorgeous shade of green and the stands are placed close to the action. But, as far as the meet organization and operations are going, as the meet announcer said on multiple occasions, βthey are still working out the kinks.β
