The Wilsonville Wildcats blew out the Mt. View Cougars Friday night 54-21.
QB Connor Neville (Jr. 6-3 200 lbs) and his brother WR Johnny Neville (Jr. 6-4 205 lbs) dominated the Cougar defense connecting for 2 touch downs and over 100 yards.
The Cougars started out strong, taking an early 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter on a QB Mike Irwin (Jr. 6-1 195 lbs) 2 yard touchdown run.
Wilsonville answered on the next possession, when the Neville brothers connected for their first touchdown of the day, a 14 yard strike, but then they missed the extra point, so Mt. View had a 1 point lead.
But on Mt. Views next possession, Erwin as intercepted by Zach Shelton (Jr. 6′ 175 lbs), and 6 plays later RB Andrew Merrick (Jr. 5-11 175) ran it in from 2 yards out, after the extra point, Wilsonville was up 13-7.
Mt. View regained the lead on their first drive of the 2nd quarter, when Erwin ran it in for his 2nd TD of the day. The successful extra point put Mt View ahead 14-13.
But then the rain started to fall and Wilsonville started to dominate.
Two plays after Erwin’s score, RB Mason Craig (Sr. 6′ 180 lbs) blasted off an 88 yard TD run, putting the Wildcats on top 20-14, and they never looked back.
Johnny Neville caught another TD from Connor, this one for 25 yards, making it 28-14 going into the half.
The 2nd half belonged to Wilsonville putting up another 24 points, including 2 TD’s from back up RB, Taran Floyd (Soph. 5-9 165 lbs).
The Mt. View Cougars go on the road to Central to play the Panthers next friday, and will return home Sept 18th to host the Crater Comets.
