Wildland fires burning in numerous locations throughout Oregon and the northwest have put up enough smoke into the air, and its spread far enough, that air quality conditions have necessitated several changes to sports schedules.
The annual Cycle Oregon event, scheduled for this weekend, has been cancelled.
On the high school football front, several games have been relocated.
The 5A Central-Bend game tonight has been relocated to Panther Field in Independence from the Lava Bears’ home stadium.
The Wilsonville-South Medford, a matchup of 5A & 6A powers, originally scheduled for tonight at Spiegelberg Stadium, has also been switched, and will be played on the Wildcats’ field in Wilsonville.
A pair of games have also been relocated to Del Norte High School in Crescent City, California.
5A Crater, located in Central Point, is still hosting Soldotna, Alaska, but the game will be at 5 PM tonight.
The 4A North Valley vs. Brookings-Harbor game has also been moved to Del Norte High, and rescheduled to kick off tomorrow, Saturday, at 2 PM.
