(Sr. Kristen Parr-Summit HS)
Eight central Oregon prep soccer teams entered the day in the OSAA 5A Soccer State Tournament, yet only 4 survived.
And, there will be a new 5A Girls Champion as #1 Summit lost 8-7 to Wilsonville via penalty kicks in the first round of the 2011 Championships.
Meantime, the Mt. View Cougar boys team were blanked on their own turf today losing to Corvallis, 2-0.
So, two of the State’s best and certainly the high desert’s best, are gone!
That leaves it up to #3 Bend girls and the 9th ranked Mt. View Cougars to find a way in the Title match on November 19th in Hillsboro.
Bend took out Liberty, 8-3, while Mt. View wins at Corvallis on penalty kicks, 4-3. The Lava Bears will host either Putnam, or Churcils. The Lady Cougs travel to Sherwood Saturday.
#4 Sisters advanced to the 4A Quarterfinals by virtue of its 6-1 win over Sutherlin. The Outlaws will host Henley this weekend.
The Summit Storm boys team is the only lone survivor on the ‘male’ side of the Title brackets. Summit shutout Wilsonville, 1-zip and will host Corvallis.
