The City of Prineville has been hosting roundups almost every year since 1916, and in 1944, they hosted the first official Crooked River Roundup.
70 years later, it is one of the most popular rodeos in the Pacific Northwest.
This year, 19-time PRC World Champion Roper Trevor Brazile joined the competition.
He says that the sense of camaraderie with the other performers is what keeps him going, “Rodeo is different from a lot of other sports because it is not just a sport, it is a lifestyle.”
He teamed up with Travis Graves for the Team Roping event where they are in 3rd place (16.1 second average) behind the teams of Charly Crawford and Shay Carrol (11.8 second average) as well as Chad Masters and Clay O’Brien Cooper (12 second average).

“I do not have anything to prove, I just love this sport and I love that it is like a family out here.”
Other top performers include Kash Wilson who is leading the Bareback Riding Competition, stacking up 78 points on a horse named Old Yeller.
Isaac Diaz topping the field with 82 points in the Saddle Bronc Riding.

The theme on Saturday was “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” and is part of a push to raise funds for breast cancer.
Sisters’ own Miss Rodeo Oregon, Sara Marcus was wearing the pink as she participated in the opening exhibitions.
She says that she enjoys being Miss Rodeo Oregon, “It is something that I am extremely proud of.”
