ATHLETE OUT OF ACTION by Demi DeSoto
The life of a student-athlete involves skills, talent, and determination. That is just to get through it all and graduate, hoping to move on to the next level. Then when injury comes in your senior season, when you have already signed a letter of intent to play your sports for a college, then prom, playoffs, and oh yeah surgery. That is the case for North Medford standout softball catcher and designated player Danyelle Milam. The Wenatchee Valley College commit will be recovering from meniscus surgery the rest of her senior year, but she will be the biggest Black Tornado cheerleader for her highly ranked softball team. She hopes to be cleared by summer, which will lead into her first season in college just right if all goes well in rehab. She maintains a great positive attitude and plans to enjoy every minute of the rest of her senior year.

“My senior season of playing softball might be done, but my senior season of supporting and being with my teammates isn’t.”
