KITSAP TAKES 2 OF 3 AGAINST BEND

The Kitsap Blue Jackets took the rubber game of their 3 game series against the Bend Elks Wednesday night 4-3.

Catcher Cooper Hummel (Soph. University of Portland) started the scoring for the Elks with a sacrifice fly to right field, driving home OF Patrick Flynn (Fr. U of Utah) in the 2nd.

Kitsap responded in the 3rd on an RBI single by OF Kyle Nobach (Soph, OSU) to tie it up and went ahead when IF Mitchell Robinson (Fr, Florida International) hit into a fielder’s choice, driving home OF Caylen Clardy (Jr. OSU).

Nobach smacked a home run in the 5th to up the Blue Jackets up 3-1.

Josh Cherry tied the game up for the Elks with a 2 RBI single in the 8th, scoring Derek Chapman and Dalton Hurd (Fr, Seattle U.).

Reliever Harrison Pyatt (San Diego State) gave up the game winning run when OF Alex Junior (Fr. Tennessee Tech) drove in IF Ryan Atkinson (Central Washington U) in the top of the 9th and took his first loss of the season.

Starter Patrick McGuff (Jr Moorehead State) gave up 3 runs on 4 hits in 7 1/3 innings, striking out 11 Blue Jackets, bringing his total for the year to a West Coast League leading 64 K’s.

The Elks ended the day with 12 hits, but they left 16 runners on base. Bend local Dalton Hurd led the team with 4 hits and 1 run scored.

The Elks end the season with a 3 game series against Klamath starting this Friday and the play-offs start next Tuesday.
