LAVA BEARS WITH A FIRM 8-1 WIN OVER SUMMIT

2nd ranked Bend High used its seniority and solid pitching from Dalton Hurd to stymie the young and coming Summit Storm, 8-1 at Bend High Monday afternoon.

The Lava Bears (9-3) got a complete game win from Hurd (4-0) who also earns the game winning RBI as he belted a 1-out solo Home Run off sophomore (LHP) Chris Mason over the tall left-field fence in the bottom of the 4th.

Both teams and pitchers were even through 3 innings until Hurd broke the ice.

Summit (5-4) did mount a rally late with the bases loaded, but Hurd’s defense backed him up and the 5A State runnerup in 2013 recorded outs to take a 1-0 lead in the IMC.
