The Lincoln Cardinals got their first win of the season, running away from winless
South Eugene 77-56 at home Dec. 13.
Put the emphasis on “run.” The Cardinals got a large share of their buckets on fast breaks. Many came off steals, but most were simply a matter of passing or dribbling the ball up court faster than the Axemen.
Junior Mujeeb Rufai, an all-around backcourt star, got his share of lay-ins by rocketing past and over the defense. He had 14 points, but could have been the MVP without scoring a point.
Backcourt partner Bryce Sloan was also superb, leading the Cardinals with 19 points, four from three-point range.
