One of my all-time Oregon favorites, and an Oregon Sports Hall of Famer, NCAA I-AA Football Hall of Famer, 2-time NFL Pro Bowler, and a former 2nd round NFL Draft pick from Portland State.
Neil Lomax led the St. Louis, and later, Arizona Cardinals NFL team for 8 years as their QB.
Lomax was ahead of his time when playing collegiately at Portland State University.
He set 90 NCAA Records, many of which he still owns today. He is 11th all-time in College passing yards, and once threw 7-TD’s in a quarter.
The Lake Oswego graduate was a gamer, and gifted a bit with some talent certainly, but it’s how he learned to read defenses, that made him one of the better QB’s to come from Oregon.
Lomax played for Daryl ‘Mouse’ Davis, the late, and took the country by surprise with the ‘Run-and-Shoot’ offense similar to the Oregon Ducks and what Chip Kelly branded.
Neil is a true gentleman, and solid business & community leader, and has done things in life for the right reason.
Many of which I should have listened better, maybe. But, Lomax is a devout Christian who gives alot back to kids, programs, families, and the sports fraternity of the state of Oregon.
In my view, Lomax will go down as one of the Great-20 of all-time in Oregon Prep/Collegiate history.
Hear what he learned from college to the NFL, and in reading defenses. Plus, Lomax talks about what it takes to play on Sundays. He offers a passionate view and is exciting to hear him share his stories.
