The OSAA State Championship play-in round started with a bang for the Hood River Valley Eagles, riding junior starting pitcher Ryan Ward and relief pitcher Skyler Hunter’s arms to a 3 hit shut out at 14th ranked Summit on Thursday (5/23).
The Eagles, ranked #19 in the OSAA Rankings coming into the game, had a dominant game from the plate, gathering 15 hits, including a 3-3 performance at the plate by Ward.

The Storm, who defeated the #1 team in 4A, the Sisters Outlaws, Monday, fell behind 2-0 in the first inning. The Eagles put up another 3 runs in the 3rd, 3 runs in the 5th, and 2 more in the seventh to secure the win.

Patrick Harvey drove in 4 runs in the game, for Hood River Valley, going 2-4 from the plate.

This caps off a 15-10 season for Summit, while the Eagles advance to the first round of the state play-offs next Wednesday.
