The Oregon State Beavers are set to host Kansas State (44-17)  in a winner-take-all, punch your ticket to the College World Series, Super Regional 3-game series at Goss Stadium.
The series is sold out but can be seen on ESPNU-TV Saturday at 4p, and Sunday at 7p.
Both teams had players selected in the MLB Draft with OSU seeing Ben Wetzler being picked by the Phillies in the 5th round, and Matt Boyd going to Toronto in the 6th circuit. Tyler Smith was tabbed by the Mariners in the 8th round.
Meantime, K-State saw their slugger OF Jared King picked by New York Mets in round-5, and SS Ross Kivet selected by Cleveland in the 10th round.

The Beavers (48-10) were fairly lucky to win the Corvallis Regional by virtue of 1-run victories the first two days over Texas-San Antonio, and UC-Santa Barbara.  Oregon State clinched the Regional Title with a 6-1 win over Texas A&M.

OSU Notes vs. Kansas State

Super Regional Setup
Oregon State will open the best-of-three series Saturday at 4 p.m. PT. Sunday’s game is slated for 7 p.m., and should the need arise, Monday’s game would be played at 4 p.m. All three games are scheduled to air on ESPNU and be streamed live on ESPN3.com.

Postseason History
Oregon State is making its 14th visit to the postseason since the program’s first season in 1907. The Beavers carry a 43-26 (.623) postseason record into the super regional, with the current head coach, Pat Casey, claiming 38 of those victories.

Oregon State’s visit is the team’s fifth consecutive, which has extended the program’s record stretch. Oregon State is 6-3 in NCAA Super Regional games and is making its fifth appearance in one this weekend.

OSU won super regionals in 2005, 2006 and 2007, defeating USC, Stanford, and Michigan, respectively. The Beavers lost in two games at Vanderbilt in 2011.

Against Kansas State
Oregon State is 3-3 all-time against Kansas State, and most recently met the Wildcats in 2012, winning 13-5 in a game played at San Diego State’s Tony Gwynn Stadium.

The teams first met in 1971, when the Wildcats won, 10-9. Head coach Pat Casey is 3-2 lifetime against Kansas State, which is making its first ever trip to Corvallis.
